KUALA KANGSAR, July 17 (Bernama) — The International Trade and Industry Ministry will publish a booklet to put an end to the controversy surrounding the issuance of permits to import vehicles or APs.

Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said that she hoped the booklet would give a clear explanation to the people pertaining to the issue.

“I have given explanations (on the APs). I am already tired of answering questions about it which are all not right (not accepted). I have done it in Parliament and during the last Umno assembly.

“I hope the explanation through the booklet will be accepted by all parties without prejudice,” she said during a function at the Sungai Perak Safari Resort here Monday where nine people received accolades for their contribution to the people in the Kuala Kangsar Parliamentary constituency while 53 school students received cash aid of RM100 each.

Rafidah, who is the Member of Parliament for Kuala Kangsar, said she hoped the spat between the current leadership and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would not prolong as the government had answered all questions that had been raised.

“Fortunately, during my visits overseas like to Europe and South Korea recently, no one asked about the spat. They did not ask because they are business-minded and do not care much on political affairs in the country,” she said.

SEOUL, July 7 (Bernama) — The Naza Group of Companies is eyeing business opportunities in South Korea apart from seeking new partners in the automotive sector, its senior manager (corporate/government affairs), Md Khalid Abdullah said.

He said Naza currently was also involved in non-automotive business namely in property and hospitality industries.

“Although, our main activities are in the automotive sector, there could be a possibility that the group will tap the potential business in tourism industry,” he told Bernama in an interview here.

He said Naza, which owned three-star hotels in Penang, Johor and Malacca, was in midst of expanding the hospitality industry.

“We can offer the South Korean tourists who wish to come over to Malaysia under a package or a tour group to stay at our hotels,” he said.

The group also owns two hotels in Los Angeles.

Md Khalid is a member of the trade mission led by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz to South Korea and Japan from July 5-13.

The mission, jointly organised by Malaysian Industrial Development Authority and Malaysia External Trade Development Corp, aims to attract investments and enhance bilateral economic relations between Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.

Touching on the automotive sector, Md Khalid said Naza has already established strong partnerships with Kia in South Korea.

“But that doesn’t stop us from seeking opportunities and tie-ups in the automotive sector particular with other vehicle component manufacturer in the country.

“If we do not produce the components ourselves, we can seek other South Korean component manufacturers to assist our vendors and potential vendors particularly the small and medium-scale enterprises in Malaysia,” he said.

Md Khalid said 10 South Korean component manufacturers have already agreed to meet him to meet him during the business-matching session today.

Defination of Automotive from Wikipedia

An automobile or motor car is a wheeled motor vehicle for transporting passengers; which also carries its own engine or motor. Most definitions of the term specify that automobiles are designed to run primarily on roads, to have seating for one to eight people, to typically have four wheels, and to be constructed principally for the transport of people rather than goods.[1] However, the term is far from precise because there are many types of vehicles that do similar tasks. Automobile comes via the French language, from the Greek language by combining auto [self] with mobilis [moving]; meaning a vehicle that moves itself, rather than being pulled or pushed by a separate animal or another vehicle. The alternative name car is believed to originate from the Latin word carrus or carrum [wheeled vehicle], or the Middle English word carre [cart] (from Old North French), and karros; a Gallic wagon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile
