SHAH ALAM, Feb 15 (Bernama) — Nasim Sdn Bhd, the franchise holder, sole importer and distributer of Peugeot vehicles, is confident of selling 3,000 units of the French car this year compared with 1,300 units last year, its director S.M.Nasarudin S.M. Nasimuddin said today.
He said the projection was based on the Malaysian Automotive Association’s outlook that car sales will increase this year as well as on an anticipated demand for Peugeot cars in the country.
“Peugeot is known for its diesel car. Eventually, when Malaysia improve their diesel quality, it’s good opportunity for Nasim to offer customers Peugeot car,” he told reporters at the launch of the firm’s 3S (sales, service & spare parts) centre called Blue Box, here.
S.M. Nasarudin said the 20,000 square feet Blue Box located in Glenmarie has been renovated at a cost of more than RM2 million and will offer after sales and maintenance service for all Peugeot models.
Nasim, a member of Naza Group of Companies, also aims to build two more Blue Box centres by 2009 in Penang and Johor Baharu. Its dealership network will start with 12 outlets and by next year this will be increased to 20 outlets nationwide, S.M. Nasimuddin said.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz officiated the opening of the centre here today.
S.M. Nasarudin said the Blue Box will store RM3 million worth of spare parts to ensure uninterrupted supply of spare parts to customers. He said the company was also offering discounts of up to 20 percent for all parts in conjunction with the opening of the centre.
“The Peugeot Blue Box will be the hub of the sales and after sales operations in Malayasia for Peugeot,” he added.
On export, he said the company planned to export 800 cars this year to Thailand and Indonesia.
“Taking advantage of the Asian Free Trade Agreement, Nasim will be embarking on an export programme of the 206 to Thailand followed by Indonesia,” he said.
At the same event, Nasim also unveiled three new Peugeot models to be available in the market this year comprising the motorsport oriented Spider 207, the classy 207 Coupe Cabriolet and the 308.
S.M. Nasarudin said it will introduce the 407 in May with expected retail price to be below RM135,000 and other iconic models like 207 GTI, 207cc and 308 RCZ to boost the market.
Today, Nazim also displayed the new 2008 edition of the Naza 206 Bestari which has undergone exterior and rear head restraints enhancement resulting in a refreshing new look. The price has been maintained.
Earlier in her speech, Rafidah said that commercial vehicles production went up 57.6 percent to 36,635 units for the January to November period last year from 22,612 units in 2006.
She said a total of 409,136 vehicles were produced for the period reviewed last year including 373,501 units of passenger vehicles.

We manage to organise our last outings in Raub on 29th-30th & 31st December 2007.
Unfortunately, from CMD only one survivor who managed to follow the outings due to various obstacles and barriers.
Well, dont worry, tommorrow never dies. There will always next Raub.
